Kendal swimmers shone in a successful meet for the club at the North West Regional Championships in Manchester.

Elliot Woodburn exceeded all expectations with results that were the best for the club in years. His breaststroke was outstanding, settling into the heats with P.B. times and 2nd places to qualify for the finals we won silver at 100 metres.

He then came out for the 50m and stormed to the gold medal in a lifetime best of 35.24.

With twelve swims to his name he then went on to collect a sackful of results and records. Every single swim he got a P.B. and some of them by several seconds. Ten of his times were club records and four of his times were inside existing county age group records. His performances at Backstroke left him just outside the medals but nevertheless he was absolutely thrilled with his results. In the A.S.A. rankings his 50 breaststroke time puts him as current number one in the UK and in the all time rankings it puts him as number one in the North West.

Megan Jones, another breaststroke specialist, gave fine performances at 50m, 100m and 200m distances, finishing just outside the top ten. Her best effort came in the 200 breaststroke where she battled it out with top class swimmers to finish in 11th.

Caitlin Deegan with three swims at backstroke and freestyle got her best result in the 50m backstroke taking a respectable 14th place in 35.19.

Joining the action Josie Johnson also gave highly competent sprinting performances and finished well up to her best times for 50m backstroke, butterfly and freestyle.
