A 38-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder following a fatal fire in Kendal on Mother's Day will face no further action.
The man had been on bail since the tragedy in the early hours of the morning at a house on Stramongate.
Kathleen Holme, 67, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary where she died.
Officers are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident, which is no longer being treated as a criminal investigation.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
