PUPILS' academic work and personal development at Sedbergh School has been found to be excellent by a team from the Independent Schools Inspectorate who visited the co-educational 11-18 boarding school earlier this year.
The team reported that pupils love learning, are resilient and have the confidence to challenge themselves to achieve what they previously thought was not possible. They also said that pupils were exceptionally pro-active in choosing healthy lifestyles because of the emphasis placed on this by the school.
Teachers were described as assured and inspiring with high expectations and expertise in their subject. They were said to have a culture of stretching and challenging pupils, both in lessons and through various academic initiatives.
Head teacher Andrew Fleck said: "We are of course delighted that the school’s remarkable provision in terms of teaching, activities and personal development has been recognised in this way.
"Sedbergh’s position as one of the leading boarding schools in the country continues with the highest accolades from the Independent Schools’ Inspectorate.”
