SCORES of people turned out to enjoy a South Lakeland vintage vehicle spectacular.

There were more than 200 exhibits at the Dales and Lakes Historic Vehicle Day held at the Yew Tree Playing Fields, Grange-over-Sands, on Sunday.

There were categories for cars, light commercials, bicycles and motorcycles with an A to Z of vehicles on display ranging from a 1960 Austin Gypsy, to a 1926 Lagonda Speed Model, a 1986 Ferrari, a 1979 Yamaha and a 1965 Ford Zodiac.

Visitors enjoyed strolling amongst the cars and stalls while some took the weight off their feet and sat in front of the pavilion and drunk in the beautiful views across Morecambe Bay.

The best vehicle in show was judged to be 'a very original 1970 Morris Mini Cooper S belonging to Phil Kershaw who travelled to the show from Wilmslow.

Show organiser and judge Geoff Critchley said: "We have eight classes and the winners of each class were of top quality.

"It is always really hard to pick an overall winner. It was pleasing this year to choose a car that was so popular in its day but is not seen very often nowadays - a real style icon presented to perfection."

Stalls covered everything from arts and crafts, tools and spares, books and models.

Grange Pre-School Playgroup provided tea, coffee and a fine selection of cakes and biscuits.
