HOLIDAYMAKERS are to benefit from a longer season at a Thorton-in-Lonsdale touring caravan park.
The site, Thornbrook Barn, run by Alan and Sandra Hodkinson, previously had permission to open from March 1 to September 30.
But members of Craven District Council's planning committee heard the couple were having to turn away trade in the October/November school holidays, and over Christmas and New Year.
Their plan to extend the season till January 5 attracted six letters of objection, voicing concerns about increased noise and light pollution, lack of privacy and screening.
Planners heard semi-mature Scots pines had been planted, and the evergreens would give year-round screening between the site, at New Road to Bank Bottom, and the nearest homes.
Granting consent, the planning committee stated no more than 29 caravans should be located at the site at any one time, and they should be used as holiday accommodation only.
