A SOUTH Lakeland horticultural show is in danger of folding unless volunteers step forward to help in its organisation.

The annual Storth & District Gardening Show was successfully held on Saturday but its future is very much in the balance unless people step forward to fill the positions of chairman, secretary and treasurer.

Visitors from far and wide made a beeline for Storth Village Hall which was a blaze of colour.

Entry numbers in the floral section were up on last year and despite the mixed weather and slugs there was a good selection of vegetables.

Craft numbers were down but the baking section was very popular with a delicious array of tempting cakes, bread and pies. Show organisers said the quality of the entries overall was of a very high standard.

Junior entries from the village primary school continued to achieve a very high standard. There will be a separate presentation to the winners in the school in September.
