HE HAS broken into London Zoo to create artwork on the walls of the penguin enclosure and smuggled a life-size statue of a Guantanamo Bay inmate into Disneyland.
Now guerrilla graffiti artist Banksy is rumoured to have struck at a site less frequently in the public eye - an underpass on the A591 at Sizergh.
A row of stencilled Marilyn Monroe faces with differing expressions, along with a picture of a rat, one of the artist's motifs, have sprung up on the walls of the passageway.
The sudden appearance of the rural mural has sparked calls for it to be spared by South Lakeland District Council's graffiti removal team and for its preservation as a work of art.
