Burneside bridge closed due to public safety concerns
FORD Bridge in Burneside has been closed until further notice due to public safety concerns.
A spokesperson for Cumbria County Council has said that following a technical inspection this afternoon (October 16), teams found that both remaining supporting piers have been 'undermined'.
The piers cannot be propped from underneath due to a lack of firm bedrock beneath them.
Ford Bridge will remain closed until further notice with no access to vehicles or pedestrians. A signed diversion is in place.
