AVERAGE house prices in the UK are up by five per cent in the year to August 2017, according to new government figures.
The North West showed the highest annual growth, with prices increasing by 6.5 per cent.
The average UK house price was £226,000. London still has the highest average house price at £484,000, and the lowest average price continues to be in the North East at £131,000.
The most expensive borough to live in was Kensington and Chelsea, where an average house was £1.2 million.
