KIRKBY Lonsdale's stand-in captain Tom Pickthall has said despite the squad being proud of their 51-game winning run in league matches at Underley Park, it hurt to see the streak come to an end.

Harrogate left Kirkby Lonsdale on Saturday with the win following a last-gasp try to steal a 27-21 victory having trailed for much of the match.

"The initial feeling was disappointment in the manner we lost the game, because it was us losing as opposed to Harrogate winning it," said Pickthall, captaining the side in the absence of the injured Ben Walker.

"We felt we were in control up until the end, but looking back on the record there's a massive amount of pride for us.

"It's still a bit raw, it was a case of us letting them back into the game. We were really disappointed after the game because it was one we felt we let get away from us."

Kirkby travel to Lymm this weekend looking for an immediate bounce back from Saturday's disappointment. Prior to drawing at Kendal last time out, Lymm had won their first six games of the season and currently sit second, one point behind Preston Grasshopper.

"We've just got to go down there with a positive mindset," said Pickthall. "They are a good side but we have shown that we are capable of mixing it with teams at the top of the table.

"We certainly won't be going there expecting to lose, we are going for the points."
