The last sentence of the Nostalgia article 'Oh, the weather outside is frightful' (Gazette, December 21) read: 'Christmas morn broke with the mercury 16 degrees below freezing. (The equivalent of minus 26 degrees Celsius.)'
The 16 degrees below freezing is in Fahrenheit. Freezing point is 32 degrees, so 16 below freezing is 16 degrees Fahrenheit. 16 degrees Fahrenheit equates to minus 9 Centigrade, not minus 26 C (which is -15 F).
