A CONCRETE-walled field barn proposed for Guides Farm, Flookburgh, would be "prominent and discordant" in the landscape, planners decided.
South Lakeland District Council refused to approve the plan by applicant Trevor Wilson, citing its "elevated and isolated position" close to salt marshes and Morecambe Bay.
In their report, planners described the slate-roofed barn as "domestic in scale, form and design". Its range of windows and doors "do not accord" with its proposed use, they stated.
