A LAKE District company has added a fourth marina to its growing leisure portfolio.

Staveley-based Lakeland Leisure Estates Limited has acquired the freehold interest in Deganwy Marina from the Crown Estate.

Deganwy Marina is a modern, high quality marina and forms part of a prestigious development built in 2004 on the Conwy Estuary, in North Wales.

It offers 165 berths, with hard standing, car parking and toilets, showers and laundry facilities in the marina building.

In June 2015 it was awarded a 5 Gold Anchor rating by the Yacht Harbour Association.

Whilst owned by The Crown Estate, Deganwy Marina has been leased to and managed by Quay Marinas Limited, a multiple marina operator. Upon the expiry of the lease on March 31, Lakeland Leisure Estates will assume responsibility for the management and operation of the business.

Lakeland Leisure Estates Limited is owned by the Morgan family. The company owns and operates three inland marinas on the canal network and has extensive experience of running caravan parks.

“We are delighted to add Deganwy to our portfolio," said chairman Phill Morgan. "It has been developed to a high standard and offers access to superb sailing waters, which I have sailed myself over many years, along the North Wales coast and Anglesey."

Nigel Wimpenny, recently appointed as managing director to help the family grow its business, said “This is the first of a number of acquisitions we intend to make."

Lakeland Leisure Estates Ltd currently owns caravan parks in the Yorkshire Dales and on the Costa del Sol in southern Spain. The inshore marinas on the canal network it owns are in Cheshire, Staffordshire and Gloucestershire.
