MOTORING'S early days are set to be re-lived in the annual Model T Rally, at Kirkby Lonsdale's The Whoop Hall Hotel, from Friday to Sunday, July 27-29.

Fifty-two Model T Fords are expected to join the popular event, organised by Barbon village resident Frank Hodgkins, with England, Scotland, France, Texas and California all represented.

The drivers, some of which wear early 1900s costume to recreate the era when Model Ts first appeared, carry out their own maintenance on route fully utilising wire hangers and pieces of string in their tool kits.

A full itinerary sees the rally depart from The Whoop Hall on Friday at 9.45am for an 88-mile drive through Sedbergh, Hawes, Aysgarth and Kettlewell, where lunch will be taken, before passing on to Arncliffe and Horton-in-Ribblesdale.

A local drive of 25 miles will feature on Saturday morning, followed by a 55-mile afternoon outing at 1pm to Scorton and Galgate, with lunch at The Barn in Scorton at 2.30pm.

The entourage will set off for the Howgills and Shap Fell for a 55-mile drive on Sunday at 10am (before returning to Whoop Hall for 2pm).

Some drivers will then move on to other rallies.
