Alison Bloxham from Kendal Physiotherapy Centre Ltd has just returned from Anzère, Switzerland, where she led a duo of physiotherapists to support 25 teams from around the world at the Winter World Transplant Games.

Ms Bloxham is a regular supporter of the World Transplant Games and has provided physiotherapy and massage services to the UK team since 2001.

2018 was the first year she was involved with the Winter World Transplant Games, keeping all the participating athletes in tip-top shape.

Ms Bloxham said: "The athletes that take part in the games are an inspiration. They have all faced danger or death at some point and embrace life, complete with their new transplanted organs, with gusto.

"While it is a competitive event, the athletes support and cheer for each other to succeed. They are all winners, embracing life and living it to the full. It's a very humbling experience to be involved in these events. It puts life in perspective."

Team GB did very well, as always: 14 athletes won a total of 28 medals – 15 of them Gold.
