MORE than 200 rare and classic vehicles including motorcycles and commercial motors are set to glisten in Grange-over-Sands next weekend.

The Yorkshire Dales and English Lakes Historic Vehicle Day is due to take place on Sunday, August 12 and will feature a range of entertainment including live music and a display of birds of prey from Co-Raptors.

The caravan of classics will set out at 9am from Coniston Hall, near Skipton; Market Place, in Ulverston; Kentdale Land Rover, in Kendal; and Dalton Square, in Lancaster.

They will parade through the town at intervals between 10.30am and noon, before forming a display at the Memorial Playing Fields, off Yew Tree Road.

Entry to the event is £3.50 which includes a 36-page colour brochure. Accompanied children under 16 years old go free.

Between 11.30am and 2.30pm there will be live music from Mainline Jazz and Jane's Country Style before the formal opening by the mayor of Grange, Coun Rob Leech.

As well as a bouncy castle, refreshments, steam traction engine rides and a raffle, motor enthusiasts can also browse a number of autojumble stalls.

At 4pm there will be a presentation of awards to drivers before the classic vehicles depart on their journey home.

Funds raised on the day will be donated to the North West Air Ambulance, Co-Raptors and Bay Search and Rescue, which will display the special-terrain vehicle Hagglund Bv206D throughout the event.
