POLICE are warning Kendal residents to be vigilant following two incidents of scamming yesterday (February 13).

A male claiming to be a detective constable contacted two unrelated women at their home addresses, via their landline phones.

Both women were told to withdraw money from their banks and were given instructions on how to do this.

The caller then requested the serial numbers of the bank notes and stated that they were forged notes.

A man then attended the victims’ home addresses to collect the notes.

He is described as a young, black man, of very slight build. He was wearing headphones and dressed casually.

Members of the public, residents in the Kendal area and families of elderly relatives are asked to be vigilant and to report any similar phone calls to the police immediately.

If you have any information on either of these incidents please contact police referencing incidents 77 and 205 of February 13.
