THE FUNERAL of Kendal's Russell Curwen who died in a crash in Lancaster will take place tomorrow (May 18).

The church service will be held at Kendal Parish Church at 12.15pm and at Beetham Crematorium at 2pm.

If you are attending and wish to travel by car there is a public car park, named Peppercorn, just past the church on the right-hand side. Be aware there will be a mini-bus with blood bike members on board and several Blood Bike cars needing to park on there.

If you are travelling by any motorcycle, blood bike, private, or Blood Bike car, please assemble initially at the gathering point between 9-11am at the Rural Auction Centre, Crooklands.

Details of the escort for the cortege:

  • 11.00am - Rolling Marshalls set off to take up posts
  • 11.05am - Rider briefing
  • 11.15am - Approximately, the convoy will leave in the following order:
    1. NWBB Lancs & Lakes Members
    2. NABB and other Blood Bike representatives
    3. Everyone else

Blood Bike cars should make their way from the gathering point directly to Peppercorn car park due to the restricted roads approaching the church.

Only motorcycles will be in the cortege escort with the exception of a tail end Charlie.

The motorcycle convoy will travel along the A65 to the village of Endmoor, where it will hold for the hearse and family cars to exit from Gatebeck Lane.

Once on the move, the cortege will then resume, pausing for one minute outside Westmorland General Hospital so that the staff can pay their respects.

The cortege will then continue along the A65 onto Romney Rd, turning right at the Traffic lights onto the A6 continuing to the Church on the right.

The council has given permission to cone off the offside/righthand lane of the one-way street for bike parking during the service.

Following the service in the church, the cortege will proceed to Beetham Hall Crematorium arriving at 2pm.
