TWO LOST cavers were rescued by Clapham's Cave Rescue Organisation on Monday (June 4).
The two were five hours overdue from a trip in Leck between Lost John's Cave and Notts 2.
They had estimated the trip would take four hours, from 8pm on Sunday to midnight.
Cave Rescue Organisation members were called and began searching in the two pots referred to.
MORE TOP STORIES:
They were joined by people on Cave Rescue Organisation's cavers list, who are experienced and knowledgeable cavers who do not wish to join cave rescue, but are willing to assist on complex underground incidents. Members of Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association also assisted in investigating other holes on that part of Leck Fell.
Eventually, the cavers were found, stranded and off-route in Lost John’s system and were accompanied to the surface.
More members of Cave Rescue Organisation, Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association, Cumbria Ore Mines Rescue Unit and Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team were standing by but this was not needed.
Cave Rescue team members spent the best part of 12 hours providing various kinds of support as part of the callout.
