PRIMARY school children from Burton-in-Kendal enjoyed workshops inspired by three Romantic poets.
Year six pupils from Burton Morewood School engaged with the work of John Keats, Samuel Taylor Coleridge and William Wordsworth.
The workshops on Monday were part of Burton-in-Kendal's celebration of the 200th anniversary of Keats' visit to the village.
"The children seemed to enjoy it immensely," said Marion Plowright, who organised the celebration events and ran a workshop on a Keats poem. "It was a really lovely, happy day.
"I think it's important for young children because I think people make people like Keats and Wordsworth and Coleridge much more complicated than they are but children at that age are very happy to take things at face value."
The Wordsworth Trust led the 28 children in workshops on Coleridge and Wordsworth.
Keats called in at the King's Arms with his friend Charles Brown for rest and refreshment on June 18, 1818, while walking through Cumbria to Scotland.
Celebrations continue tonight (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday) at 8pm, when people will have the chance to overhear the 'reimagined conversation' of Keats and Charles Brown in the King's Arms pub on Main Street.
