KENDAL'S Lyte Byte Cafe, for years a popular institution among workers on the Mintsfeet Industrial Estate, could be moving to nearby premises.
Plans to relocate the Mintsfeet Road South cafe - well-known for its cooked breakfasts - to Mintsfeet Road South, have been lodged with South Lakeland District Council.
Applicant Neil Crayston, of motorbike showroom Triple D Motosport, is seeking planning consent to change the use of an empty office to a cafe, as the proposed new location for the Lyte Byte.
According to plans, the cafe's tenancy has come to an end and alternative premises are needed so it can "continue to serve the needs of customers on the estate".
Triple D's vacant office is described as a metal-roofed, single-storey "industrial-type" building. A new refuse store would be built, and a new sign put up.
The cafe would employ two full-time and five part-time staff, and would be open Monday-Friday 7.30am-2.30pm, and Saturday 9am-12pm, state plans.
