Kendal Rotary Club has a new president.
Digby Gunson handed over the reins to the new incoming president, Ken Gibson, at an inauguration ceremony.
Following a very successful year overseen by Digby, Ken intends to carry on the good work of Rotary in both the local area and internationally.
Rotary’s project to eradicate polio worldwide, since its inception in 1979, is almost at an end with only a few cases occurring in 2017-18.
The Kendal club intends to carry on the many initiatives for the South Lakes area, such as a ‘kids out day' for Sandgate School, a ‘youth speaks competition' for schools, a ‘young technology tournament', sending two students to the ‘Rotary Youth Leadership Award’ scheme and fund raising for the many requests the club receives from local charities.
In addition, it will respond to international disasters by sending Shelter Boxes and AquaBoxes to affected countries.
Its commitment to helping a small village in Nepal following the devastating earthquakes recently, by providing funding for necessary projects, will also continue.
