A friend living in the south of England is researching reports of motor vehicle ascents on Britain's three peaks, particularly during the early days of motoring.
He has already collected information regarding such ascents of Ben Nevis and Snowdon, but is lacking any data regarding our own highest peak.
Living at the other end of the county, and never having climbed Scafell myself, I'm not sure whether or not any motorised attempts have taken place in the past, nor indeed whether it is possible.
I would be grateful if someone could enlighten me, so that I can pass on any information. I can be emailed on colin.cowp@btinternet.com.
