KENDAL COLLEGE'S best and brightest have been celebrated at the establishment's annual prize giving ceremony.

Held at Kendal Rugby Club, the event highlighted the hard work of the institution's students and apprentices.

New principal of the college, Kelvin Nash, said that it was an 'absolute pleasure' to attend the awards evening.

"We have seen another incredibly successful year as Kendal College, and the awards celebrate all that makes our college distinctly great.

It takes time to do justice to the talented individuals who received the awards, and each had an inspirational and heart-warming story to tell. All of our students, whether they received an award or not, should be very proud of their achievements and proud of the fact that they attend such a high performing college.

"None of this would be possible without the commitment and dedicated team of staff across the College, who make sure our students are at the centre of all that they do."

Included in the line-up of winners was Amy Wood from Windermere. She has completely Sport Level 3 and is progressing to Newcastle to study Sports Science. She won an award for Outstanding Performance and Perseverance in Studies.

Ian Waddington from Kendal, won an award for Outstanding Effort, Commitment and Achievement.

He has completed Engineering Level 3 and is progressing onto a Higher Apprenticeship in Nuclear Engineering at BAE Systems.

And Sky Alderson from Kendal, has just landed a place at the most prestigious art and design college in the country, Central Saint Martins.

He will be following in the footsteps of famous graduates like Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, Richard Long, Richard Deacon and John Galliano. He won his award for Outstanding Commitment and Ability.

All of our winners on the evening have shown that they are among the best that Kendal College has to offer, and I look forward to the awards celebrating the achievements and successes of our next cohort of learners at the 2018/19 event," Mr Nash added.
