THE Windermere Ferry is literally a life-saver.
On many occasions, before it was taken out of service, I witnessed the ferry wait for an ambulance to take critical medical help to local residents.
In recent weeks I have been stuck behind motor homes, tractors, buses, coaches and articulated lorries nearly every day as I drive from Far Sawrey to Ambleside on my way to work.
What is usually a 20-minute drive can take over an hour. What happens if someone falls seriously ill?
Every day that Cumbria County Council prevaricates is a day a life could be lost and the council needs to urgently speed up the repair work and get the Windermere Ferry back to full operation as soon as is physically possible.
