WINDERMERE residents awoke to the sight of a tree toppled onto a car at Park Road yesterday morning (Sunday).
Cumbria Police said they were called at 3.10am about the fallen tree which had blocked the road and was thought to have brought down telephone cables.
A police spokesperson told the Gazette highways officers were dealing with the incident.
Victoria Road resident Jonty Lishman, who took these pictures, said it appeared a large branch had blown off the tree during strong winds in the night and fallen onto the Renault car.
Mr Lishamn said Park Road was closed off, and he believed the tree had fallen from "The Rec", Queen's Park recreation ground.
