DREAMCATCHER: Alex Hossack and Catherine Aubrey interpret your dreams

Maggie’s Dream:

There was a man appeared at my workplace. His manner made me think he would make a good butler with his commanding but softly pressurising presence.

As he stood by the filing cabinet he was told that he needed to bring half a loaf of white bread and half a loaf of brown bread to work. However, he asked for a ‘posh’ trolley to bring them in.

I turned to Rebecca my work colleague and said that she needed to collect such a trolley from her home. The dream suddenly ended here.

Dream Interpretation:

This is another short statement dream that nevertheless has something to say.

The dream opens with a man in a subservient position in a work situation -this may be an unusual occurrence in the dreamer’s life. However, it sounds as if the dreamer has had a recent experience which has empowered her, possibly over a man.

Although the man presents with a commanding sense of control and power, he remains controlled and directed by the two women in the dream.

Dreaming of bread is a way of connecting to the need for emotional and biological satisfaction, the basic of human needs.

This dream also represents the wish to share, indicated by the use of two halves of bread. Using both the brown and while loaves is an indication that she is unsure about what she wants to share or a phase in her life concerned with what she wants to do for her future.

The presence of a filing cabinet represents the need to make order out of what has been the chaos of her world. Thus, she is faced with a decision. Furthermore to carry the bread to work on a ‘posh’ trolley suggests that the decision she has to make may be an important one.

In summary, the dreamer has come into a time of her life where she has experienced a sense of power and control and is about to make an important decision about how to handle it for her future.

If the dreamer would like to provide feedback about the interpretation, please send it to ACDreamcatchers@mail.com.

Interestingly, we have found it is not always possible to interpret your own dream, probably because it often represents the sublimation of feelings or thoughts that we are trying to avoid in our waking lives. However, with a little assistance from the dream interpreter, the symbols and themes can start to make sense and help us to move forward.

If you are interested in having a particular dream analysed, please send us an account of your dream to the following email address: ACDreamcatchers@mail.com

We only have space to interpret one dream a week which will be selected from those received. Please refer to the guidance provided to describe your dream as this will enable us to provide a full interpretation.

Guidance for the Dreamer:

• Record your dream in writing as soon as you wake up with as much detail as possible.

• First of all ask yourself who is in the dream.

• Where are you, what is happening to you and what is happening around you?

• Record how you are feeling about what you and/or others are doing.

• Are there particular symbols or objects in the dream that are unusual?

• Are there any sounds and is the dream in colour or black and white?

• Are you watching yourself in the dream or are you experiencing it first-hand ie: through your own eyes.
