FIVE masked men are being sought by police following a raid on a South Lakeland filling station.

The men, who were wearing black and had their faces covered, forced a door at the Ings Filling Station in the early hours of today. They escaped with cigarettes, alcohol and petty cash. Police were called to the scene at 1.50am.

Police Constable, Chris Appleyard said: “We believe this incident involved up to five men who have entered the county with criminal intent.

“We, and our partner forces are working together to identify the perpetrators. In light of this incident we would urge businesses to stay vigilant; check CCTV cameras are working, check all doors and windows are locked, check alarms are working, secure high value stock and where possible remove all cash.”
