THERE will be no cuts to services and no rise in Eden District Council's share of the council tax bill this year.

That was the pledge for the council's executive who said budget recommendations, which will go before the full council for approval on February 14, will also make provision for a series of measures to generate commercial income for the council.

These measures include the construction both of small business units in Penrith for rent and also affordable homes in a partnership with Heart of Cumbria Ltd, while the council will also finance the One Eden business support programme.

Under the recommendations, a Band D property would pay £190.75 for District Council services in 2019/20.
