POLICE have condemned 'shocking speeds' after they clocked people driving at nearly 50mph close to a school.

Cumbria Constabulary was out conducting speed checks along the A6 at Beetham yesterday.

A spokesman for South Lakes Police said officers saw 'shocking speeds of 47mph' along the road, which runs past Beetham Church of England Aided Primary School.

"Those road users and those exceeding 30 mph should expect to be contacted in the coming days," he said.
