The inaugural Windermere Science Festival will be taking place in 2022, with some internationally renowned speakers and pioneering events planned.
The state-of-the-art Windermere Jetty Museum will be hosting the event over three days from March 18-20.
On Saturday March 19, eminent oceanographer Helen Czerski will be giving the headline speech of the day around the overall festival theme of "Water".
Organiser Nick Greenall said: "The Windermere Jetty Museum is really a world-class venue for this. It's had Prince Charles and Kate Middleton visit recently, and it's perfect for the first Windermere Science Festival.
"I did plan for March 2020 for the first festival, but for obvious reasons that didn't happen, so it became my lockdown project, giving me the chance to really work on it and pull all the ideas together.
"The fact that we're in a world-class location means we've had to be very ambitious, and make it the best it can possibly be - we've managed to be able to plan a really great series of talks, performances and science demonstrations for March."
