POLICE have confirmed that a team was called out to a South Cumbrian village to carry out a controlled explosion on a suspected piece of ordnance.

Bomb disposal teams were dispatched to the village of Endmoor - south of Kendal and Oxenholme - to deal with the potential explosive device on Wednesday.

Inspector David Proctor said: “Police received a report at 2.32pm yesterday of the discovery of a suspected piece of ordnance at a site at Endmoor.

“A precautionary cordon was put in place and an EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) team were contacted. They carried out a controlled explosion.”
