A POPULAR Lake District fell has featured in a Disney Plus series.

Catbells, a popular walking route among tourists and residents was featured in episode one of the long-awaited Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney plus.

In the scene, Catbells is depicted as the planet of Alderaan, the home planet of Princess Leia.

During the scene, a young princess Leia is seen running through the woods to avoid attending a family event alongside Senator Organa and Breha Organa.

Head of Partnerships and Projects at Cumbria Tourism, Rachel Tyson, said: “The Lake District, Cumbria has some of the most stunning scenery in the world, so it’s no surprise that we often see it on our screens.

"The county continues to be a natural set for a host of TV and film appearances including previous films in the Star Wars franchise – and the scene used in the new Obi-Wan Kenobi series does definitely bear a striking resemblance to Catbells!

"Film and TV production is always great promotion for the area, with fans not only spending money on accommodation and visiting the favourite locations but also exploring the wider area as part of their trip."

The highly anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi series has become Disney +'s most-watched premiere globally.

Obi-Wan Kenobi stars Ewan McGregor, reprising his role as the iconic Jedi Master, and also marks the return of Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader.

The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.
