A CARNFORTH pub has celebrated one of their longest standing employees who has given them 20 years of service.

Nicola Holmes, who is from Cragbank, has marked two decades of work for the Longland’s Inn, which began when she started doing work experience back in school.

The pub celebrated the occasion in June and looks forward to many more happy years with Nicola on the team as senior supervisor.

She said: “It was twenty years this June. It’s always been a really nice place here. Sometimes it’s been stressful but always nice.

“It’s the people that keep bringing me back.

“I live in Crag Bank in Carnforth. Always been round there.

“I actually did my work experience here from secondary school when I was fourteen. It carried on and I never left.

“It just turned out that way and I never thought about it turning out this way. Then it went on because I liked it.

“I’ve always worked in front of house, but we do a fair share of everything. Now I’m senior supervisor of front of house. It puts me responsible for about fifteen people.

“There are a lot of people who have worked here for a while. We also have another guy, Alex, who had been here for twenty years.

“I’m looking forward to another twenty years, that’s what it said on the card they gave me. We had a little celebration on the day with my little girl and husband.

“They gave me some balloons and a little present.

“Seeing the building change over the years has been quiet something. Changes will always come. We had a big one recently. It’s really nice to work here and I love it.”

Longlands Inn & Restaurant wrote on social media: “This is a very special post about one of our long-standing employees, Nicola Holmes.

“Nicola celebrates 20 years’ service this month. She is an invaluable member of staff and we all love her.

“Thank you so much for all that you do Nicola and here’s to the next 20.

“Congratulations from all the Team.”
