CARNFORTH'S Town Mayor has thanked a popular local land lord ahead of his planned departure.
The Canal Turn's landlord Bill Johnston has announced he will be moving on from the pub to take charge of the Wagon and Horses, located on St George's Quay, after working in Carnforth since 2018.
Town Mayor Chris Smith said: "Bill has been a tremendous asset to Carnforth offering a warm welcome to all at the Canal Turn.
"He has worked tirelessly to establish a venue that has not only provided good beer and food but also a wide range of entertainment for local residents and tourists alike - while also providing local employment.
"His Charity work is well known locally with his annual duck race drawing hundreds of people to the area.
"Bill will be hugely missed and we are very sorry to see him leave Carnforth but we do wish him well in his new venture."
