THE mother of a ten-year-old boy bitten by a Doberman in Kendal is calling for the breed to be put on the dangerous dogs list.
Shirley Wallis, of Greengate, was astounded to find the breed was not already listed when her son, Connor, was injured by a neighbour's pet resulting in a hospital stay and 40 stitches to his face.
Now Mrs Wallis is urging all children to be cautious with dogs - even animals with which they are familiar.
The incident occurred when Mrs Wallis, a care worker, visited an elderly neighbour with her son who was stroking the six-year-old dog.
The dog gave Connor a single bite to the face when the Dean Gibson School pupil touched its ear. It later emerged that the dog's ear was infected.
