AN APPLICATION for new changing rooms at a South Lakeland cricket club has been approved by the district council.

The new facility at Sedgwick Cricket Club in Back Lane is to see a part of the existing pavilion, which 'falls woefully short of the required space and accommodation of a modern, thriving community sports club', replaced.

"New changing rooms along with a disabled toilet and a separate, official changing room are included," said a design and access statement submitted as part of the application.

The new changing rooms are to extend the existing pavilion. The extension is to be built on an old practice area.

"The moving of the changing rooms frees up space in the existing pavilion that will allow for further community use of the premises with the provision of an essential, appropriately sized social space embellishing an already popular and vital local community hub," said the design and access statement.

The application from John Wright, of ACE Construction, was approved subject to a number of conditions, including that tree protection fencing be installed prior to development commencing.
