Ulverston swimmers continued their return to normality with a series of swims in a Club Championship Gala.

The event opened with competitors tackling the 200m Freestyle events. 9yr old Niamh Green powered her way to a well-earned victory in her race in a time of 3:36,89.

The 12/13-year-olds race produced a terrific battle with Abigail Caine, Chloe Cowsill and Isla Robertson challenging each other for the top spots.

All three got a great start and quickly settled into a steady rhythm.

As the race developed Caine got her nose in front whilst her rivals worked hard, shoulder to shoulder. Into the final Caine did just enough to win ahead of Cowsill, then Robertson.

The 14/16-year-olds saw powerhouse Jamie-Leigh Tyson dominate her event and never looked likely to lose. From the off she left Olivia Penellum and Orianne Sharp making huge efforts to respond.

However, she kept up the pace and came through for a fine win. The 17/0vers brought together two of the Club greats, Indya Sharp and Lily Smith who gave a brilliant display with Sharp taking a narrow win. Then came the turn of the boys and some fine winners emerged. Ethan Miller won his race with a time of 4:27.43 to be followed by another well-earned win from Dylan Coward in 3:25.64. Malacky Kenny also kept up to his best time for a win in 3:00.32.

The senior group produced a real Classic with Fergus Bell taking command and leading the challenger's home for a fine win ahead of Ethan Alpress and Adam Jones.

The 50m Butterfly sprints brought more exciting results with Mia Griffiths taking a victory by a clear two secs in her race.

Chloe Cowsill went one further this time when she swam a superb race holding off all challenges to take the win. Jamie Leigh Tyson and Indya Sharp kept up the momentum, both of them producing superb wins.

The boys then pitched in with youngsters Kayden Smith and Marley Griffiths surging through to fine victories.

Then hot shots Ethan Alpress and Adam Jones showed their talent and skill for this event with clear cut victories for both of them. Green continued to show her talent as one of the Club’s future stars, taking on the 100m Breaststroke.

A solid start and transition put her in a position for success. Setting the pace her stroke pattern started to pull her clear and despite some spirited challenges she held her nerve and timed her winning finish to perfection. Olivia Longman and Rose Yearnshire also both future prospects came up with wins in their 100 Breaststroke events, to be followed once again by another pair of outstanding wins from Jamie Leigh Tyson and Indya Sharp.

The boys too were equally confident at this stroke and produced performances to be proud of. Kayden Smith got another win with a swim full of skill and power. Marley Griffiths dominated his race from start to finish, injecting pace and hitting the finish well ahead of his rivals.

Ethan Alpress and Adam Jones were both to emerge victorious following dazzling displays with perfectly timed finishes.
