A MUCH-LOVED cat who went missing for days following an attack has made a full recovery.

Barras, a cat cared for by Stainmore Railway Company in Kirkby Stephen, has been through major trauma since the end of July when he was attacked by another animal.

Aftter the incident, he went missing for four days before being treated at Pendragon Vets in Kirkby Stephen.

A spokesman for Stainmore Railway Company said: "The staff at the vets were lovely and we made the decision to take him back to Kirkby Stephen East (KSE) after three days. We set up a Just Giving Page to raise monies for to fund his vets fees and recovery costs. With online giving and offline contributions we were able to fully fund his recovery.

"The hot weather was a challenge for him so our directors Sue and Mike made the decision to take him to their home in Sedgefield for three weeks to recover. He is not a house cat and did very well with litter tray training. Once he got back to KSE he settled in and is continuing to make great progress.

"Barras still has a long way to go but is loving being back at KSE and is staying home rather than wandering off site. He loves meeting and greeting on Sundays and wants to thank his fans and supporters

"There is an excess of £500 from funds donated to Barras which will be donated to Eden Animal Rescue."
