CUMBRIAN Taekwondo competitors from Kendal and Ulverston took on the British national championship 2022 in Sheffield.
Six members from the county competed on September 24 and 25, finding great success as usual.
The squad brought back one gold and two bronze medals.
Medal winners were Gabriella Pettigrew who claimed gold in the under 24kg category, making her a two-time British national champion.
She is also the current Welsh and Scottish champion.
Mia Atkinson won the bronze in the under 48kg category.
Riley Pettigrew also fought for the bronze in the under 73kg junior category.
Also competing was Jack Dixon at under 55kg, James Jeory in the under 45kg group and Finley Smith in the under 61kg contest.
Steve Pettigrew said: “I’m immensely proud to have Gabby add the British national title to the Welsh national title she won in July, whilst still holding the Scottish national title.
“And what an achievement for Riley to win a national medal, he will now be invited to train with the GB development squad.
