SWIMMERS from Ulverston found great success at their latest gala in Workington.

The team came away with a huge collection of medals, also achieving qualifying times and some great performances from swimmers of all ages.

Led by an amazing performance from Jamie Leigh-Tyson taking wins in 6 events and bronze in two others, she set an example that gave her team mates so much more confidence.

Her Freestyle saw her produce the skill that proved too much for her opponents. In the 50m, 100m and 200m she reigned supreme.

Setting a devastating pace for every event she led them out and refused to relinquish an inch at any point, driving her way through the turns and into the pressure zone she timed her finishes to perfection.

Such was her power in the 100 Freestyle she clocked 59.88, the only girl to get a time under the 1-minute mark. Her quality didn’t stop there as she then turned to Backstroke and produced more dazzling performances to win Gold in both 40m and 100m events.

The 100 Backstroke also tested all her courage but staying cool and refusing to panic she responded to every challenge holding off Emily McDougall to get her hands on another Gold. In the 200 Individual Medley she gave a dramatic performance to touch out Cockermouth’s Ellie Wilson by a fraction in a blanket finish. Ethan Alpress was also at the top of his form and he too finished up with a whole clutch of medals. He made a super start taking his first Gold with a devastating swim in the 800m Freestyle.

A great start put him ahead and from there he got better over each length to win with a fair degree of ease. At 100 and 200 Backstroke he again took command. First, emerging ahead of Adam Stansfield he injected enough pace to take gold and in another outstanding performance against James Escolme picked up another Gold.

The 50 Butterfly resulted in another shoulder-to-shoulder race with Escolme and it was Alpress who snatched Gold in a storming finish by less than a second. He then went on to collect six minor place medals over the weekend.

Chloe Cowsill, a Backstroke specialist was outstanding having entered the 50, 100 and 200m she used all her skill and talent to prove victorious in all three of the events.

At 50 Backstroke she put herself in a position for success and used her elegant stroke pattern to stay ahead of Cockermouth’s Lily Bailey and Brooklyn Hale and win in an exciting finish.

The 100 Backstroke proved a repeat with the three same swimmers emerging with the same result. Her 200 Backstroke saw a different game plan but she still dominated throughout to get another Gold and followed on with Bronze in the 200 Freestyle and 200 Individual Medley.

More Gold were to come, with Gyoktug Molla displaying superb skill and technique at Breaststroke.
