AN APPLICATION to set up six electric vehicle charging points at a service station along the A591 has been approved by South Lakeland District Council.
The scheme at Plantation Filling Station, between Kendal and Staveley, is part of applicant Motor Fuel Group's plan to 'diversify' its existing offer.
"The UK Government have placed a new emphasis on electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the UK," said a cover letter submitted by CarneySweeney in support of the application.

"At present, it is understood that the uneven spread of electric vehicle charging facilities significantly hinders the take-up of electric vehicles."
The cover letter said the aspiration of Motor Fuel Group was to 'provide access to convenient and affordable charging, regardless of where the driver lives'.
The project will also see associated forecourt works take place and a canopy and a substation enclosure set up.
