AN 'ALFRED Wainwright aficionado' has written a book detailing a little-known part of his life in the late 1980s - as told by his publisher Andrew Nichol.

'Wainwright Memories' is a 220-page book by Chris Butterfield containing insights from Andrew and illustrative maps by Chris Jesty.

Chris has one of the largest private collections of Wainwright memorabilia in the world.

The book chronicles three stories involving Wainwright from 1988-90. The author and Andrew retrace his steps and recreate photos taken thirty years earlier.

The first story is from when Wainwright went on holiday to Scotland with Andrew.

The second is about Wainwright's unfinished book following up on A Coast to Coast Walk.

The final story is about one of Wainwright's last photo shoots in the Lake District, taken by photographer Ken Shepherd in Langdale.

The book is available through Chris Butterfield's website for £24.99 and is printed on photographic paper.
