NEWLYWEDS, who met on an online app, eloped to the Lake District with an intimate wedding with no guests.

Amy Wilcox, a 33-year-old analyst and Richard Parker, a 37-year-old data engineer, have tied the knot.

The couple, from Leamington Spa in Warwickshire, met on a dating app 7 years ago and had their first date at a street food event at Coventry Cathedral.

"We bonded over a love of food and hatred of bananas," said the couple.

The couple got engaged at Rydal Water in October 2021.

Amy said: "We have always loved the Lake District, and we decided to have our first family holiday with our daughter in the Lakes.

"Although we had spoken about engagement rings previously, and I'd shown Rich which one I liked, I still wasn't expecting it.

"I was looking at the ducks with our daughter, and I heard Rich clear his throat and say: 'I know you've been waiting for this for a long time'.

"I remember being so happy I was crying, and there was a lot of laughter."

The pair got married at Cote How with an intimate wedding without guests.

They said they had a 'perfect' day with 'clear skies' and 'bright sunshine.'

One of the highlights of the wedding was when their favourite song, Islands in the Stream by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers, started playing in the background.

Amy said: "It's always been one of our favourite songs and never fails to make us smile."

She added: "We had our elopement picnic outside at Cote How and it was so lovely to peacefully sit outside in such a beautiful part of the country and take it all in, just the two of us.

"We were so tired by the time we got back to the hotel that our plans to go out for dinner went out the window, and instead, we lay in bed watching Australian Survivor and eating a bag of chip shop chips and some brownies from Finch Bakery.

"It wasn't necessarily a traditional wedding day, but it was our day, and we loved it."

After the wedding, the pair spent a couple of days in the Lake District.

They also plan to spend the money they saved by having a small wedding on a big holiday in America when their daughter is older.
