A NEW report has revealed the Lake District as the most popular national park to get married in, according to Google search data.

The report, conducted by Wheelwrights, analysed Google search data to rank national parks on their search popularity for weddings.

Jerry Rebbeck, from the Lake District holiday cottages company Wheelwrights, said: "It's great to see the Lake District National Park topping the list as the most searched for when it comes to planning a wedding.

"Not only does the scenery make the perfect backdrop for wedding pictures, but with so many great places to stay for guests and the bride and groom before and after a wedding, the Lakes make for a fairy tale wedding for many.

"It’s no wonder it’s so popular Northern most park in England, running along the Scottish border. Home to the UK's cleanest rivers and darkest skies, it’s no wonder it’s a hit with the bride and grooms to be, providing a perfect backdrop to their special day."
