A man was due to appear in court yesterday (September 23) accused of throwing a can of drink at a man due to board a bus in Windermere.

The incident occurred at the bus stop outside Windermere train station at Station Precinct as the man was boarding the 555 bus to Keswick.

British Transport Police Lancashire confirmed it attended the incident on its Twitter page alongside South Lakes police with the suspect arrested just a short distance away.

The man was subsequently charged and remanded for court yesterday morning.

Speaking on its Twitter page, British Transport Police Lancashire added: "There were two warrants for his arrest as he had failed to appear in court in Edinburgh (for an assault) and in Carlisle (for a theft).

"Some great "teamwork between Cumbria Police and BTP working into the early hours to get a result for the victim."
