NEWLYWEDS united by music married in the Lake District after 15 years together.

Joanne Sutton, a 42-year-old senior operations manager, tied the knot to Jason Sutton,  a 51-year-old technical surveyor.

Music united the pair who met while working in a band together.

"I am a singer, and Jason is a guitarist," said Joanne.

"We have worked in bands together for the whole time since."

Mr and Mrs Sutton, who had been together for nearly 15 years, decided to get married when they were on a night out.

Joanne said: "We were due to go on a weekend break to France, and the night before, the flight got cancelled.

"Rather than stay at home, we looked at what other flights were leaving from the same airport around the same time, and we ended up going to Romania at the last minute instead.

"Whilst on a night out in Bucharest, we spoke about getting married and decided after nearly 15 years together, this would be a nice idea."

The couple wanted to keep things 'ultra simple' and 'stress-free', so nine weeks after their engagement, they got married in the Briery Wood Hotel in Windermere.

"Briery Wood Hotel was perfect," said Joanne.

"The timing was perfect as it fell on the week of our 15th anniversary together."

"We signed up for a package which included a cruise on Windermere, two nights of accommodation, meals and a wedding day afternoon tea.

"Our labrador Alfie was made very welcome, too. As the weather was so good, we were offered the chance to get married outside in the gardens, which we jumped at - the setting was beautiful.

"Briery Wood kindly provided witnesses, too. There wasn't one stressful thing about the day and no one else to worry about. It really was 'just us' and Alfie."

The couple, from Nottingham, planned a week abroad for their honeymoon in Rhodes, Greece.

Joanne concluded: "We would like to thank all the staff at Briery Wood,  Julie Robinson Photography, and our family for respecting our wishes of keeping it simple."
