Barrow and Kendal have been named as the seventh and ninth easiest places in Britain for people to pass their driving test.

Electronic car part remanufacturer, Actronics Ltd, analysed data released by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency to determine which UK driving test centres were the hardest and easiest to pass at in 2023.

Barrow had a pass rate of 68.55% following a total of 779 tests conducted at the centre, with 534 individuals successfully obtaining their driver's licences.

In comparison, Kendal's test centre, based on Oxenholme Road, boasted a pass rate of 67.96% following 1027 tests and 698 happy individuals.

Actronics looked at how many tests were taken and passed between January and June of 2023 to calculate the pass rate for each test centre.

Ballater in Scotland ranked as the easiest place to pass, boasting an impressive pass rate of 79.49%, though this was only out of 78 tests.

The hardest driving test centre in the UK is Speke in Liverpool, with a pass rate of only 33.16%.

Out of a substantial 4,517 tests conducted at this centre, only 1,498 individuals successfully obtained their driver's licences.

There were a total of 857,336 driving tests conducted in the UK between January and June this year, resulting in 414,636 successful passes.

This equates to an overall pass rate of 48.36% for learners, revealing a significant swing of almost 30% when compared to the easiest test centre, and a 15% difference compared to the hardest test centre.

It is worth noting that smaller, local centres typically boast higher pass rates, but they also likely come with longer waiting times.

These are essential factors for eager learners to consider as they strive for success on the road going forward into 2024.
