Storrs Hall has collaborated with a number of churches to provide a free Christmas meal for selected community members.

The Windermere-based hall worked with a number of local churches including St James’ Church in Staveley, St Mary’s Church in Windermere and St Cuthbert’s Church to offer a festive dinner on December 6.

Invitees were chosen by The Revd Lawrence Basham, team vicar for the South Lakes, identifying parishioners unable to attend Christmas events.

Entertainment was provided by Grasmere Primary School’s brass band and choir after a a traditional turkey dinner and Christmas pudding.

The Revd Lawrence Basham said: "It was really generous offer from the team at Storrs Hall and we were delighted to partner with them.

"This event will have been the highlight for many people in our community this Christmas season."

Andrew Nicholson, general manager for Storrs Hall said: "We’re keen to play our part in our local community and Christmas feels like a particularly good time to give back.

"It was an honour to host the lunch and we hope it provided a bit of a treat for some much-valued local people who need it."
