A number of people from across south Cumbria have been named on the King's New Year's Honours List.

The recognition focuses on recipients who have made exceptional contributions to their local communities and the country as a whole.

In the northwest alone, 105 people have been awarded, which is roughly 9% of the overall total.

Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden said: “Everyone from the North West receiving honours today represents the best in British communities.

“I send my warmest congratulations to this year’s recipients, all of whom are incredibly deserving for what they have achieved."
